Hereford - Oswin & Co

Oswin & Co. is one of the oldest jewellery businesses in Hereford — and one of the oldest in the entire country. Founded in 1884 by William Henry Oswin, a jeweller who set up his first store near Hereford Cathedral at the age of 33, the business has served the people of Hereford for over 140 years across every era of British life.

Following William Oswin's passing in 1905, the business passed to Arthur Butt, a jeweller from Chester, who expanded the premises into 16 and 17 Broad Street. The Butt family stewarded Oswin & Co. with great care for 103 years before retiring in 2008, when the Warr family — the family behind David Christopher Jewellers — took ownership, ensuring this irreplaceable piece of Hereford's commercial heritage was preserved for the next generation. In 2018, as the development of the Old Market drew footfall away from Broad Street, Oswin & Co. relocated to its current home on Widemarsh Street, carrying every tradition of the original store into a bright new setting.
