Since 1947, Michel Herbelin have been making unique watches. The original founder, Michel Herbelin wanted to create fine timepieces that lasted and to restore French watch making to its former glory. At the age of 26, he opened his first studio at his parent’s house in Charquemont, France and the watchmaking house of Michel Herbelin was born. To this day, each watch is designed, assembled, regulated and checked in their Franche-Comté workshops.
Jean-Claude Herbelin, Michel’s eldest son was inspired by the family passion for sea and boats and this was the inspiration for the iconic Newport collection, which was launched in 1988. Its testament to the enduring popularity of its distinctive styling that the Newport is still in demand today.
Marine grade stainless steel
The casing material is made from 316L graded steel, giving it superior corrosion resistance to saltwater, making it ideal for timepieces that are worn at the beach or marine environment. It’s also durable and hardwearing yet lightweight, so you can focus on enjoying the moment. What’s more, it’s also skin friendly and won’t tarnish.
Scratch resistant sapphire crystal
As we all know, there’s nothing worse than a dreaded scratch on your favourite timepiece. Sapphire crystal is used, which is about twice as hard as mineral glass. Only a diamond or hard rock surface can make any impact, so relax and simply enjoy wearing this quality timepiece

Water resistance of 100 metres/10 ATM
This timepiece has a water resistance of up to 100 metres, which means you can wear your Newport when swimming, snorkelling and on the boat. However, no deep-sea diving please!
